In the earlier post regarding San Francisco and its vicinity, we paused on our journey to Los Angeles, so I will pick up from that point.

Continuation of Route No. 1

After San Simon, the road is less interesting than its northern section, but it still offers some pleasant stopping points.

Solvang

Visiting Solvang feels like a brief trip to Denmark. The first thing that greets you is the delightful aroma of Danish cookies. The streets are lined with buildings showcasing Danish architecture and windmills.

Santa Barbara

Another cute place to stop on the way to Los Angeles is Santa Barbara, a charming small town that embodies a delightful blend of Spanish and Mexican architectural styles, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Pacific Ocean.

Anaheim

Anaheim is, in my opinion, the true reason to visit Los Angeles. Here, you'll find two Disney parks: Disneyland, the original Disney park , and the Disney theme park, which offers more thrilling experiences. Additionally, there's an entertainment area filled with restaurants, cafes, and numerous shops.

We stayed at the Hyatt House, and it was fantastic. The room was very spacious and convenient, and it's just a couple of minutes' walk away.

Universal Studios

For those who find the Disney parks lacking in thrill, a drive to Holywood will lead them to the Universal Amusement Park, which offers many attractions better suited for older and more adventurous children.

Los Angeles

Honestly, I'm not particularly fond of LA. It's not very interesting or beautiful, and the constant congestion makes it unappealing to walk or drive around. I suggest taking the Hop on Hop off bus tour, which offers a pleasant and comprehensive overview of the city. Additionally, Los Angeles is a great place to embark on a cruise, with a convenient and accessible port used by most major cruise lines.

The village of Los Angeles

On Olvera Street, you'll discover the village of Los Angeles, which feels like a small leap to Mexico. Here, you can explore Mexican shops and restaurants, all within a lively and colorful atmosphere.

Catalina Island

If you're interested in visiting a charming and small island, Catalina Island is the perfect choice. It's well-known primarily for the large casino that once operated there, which has become a symbol of the island. Renting a golf cart to explore the island is recommended, as it offers stunning views. For the adventurous, there's also the option to try zip lining.

San Diego

San Diego is approximately a 90-minute drive south of Los Angeles. It's a beautiful city with nearly perfect weather throughout the year, averaging around 25C degrees and not very rainy. In San Diego, you can explore a wide range of theme parks.

Sea World

Sea World is one of San Diego's most renowned parks, covering a vast area where you can encounter a diverse range of marine life, including fish, sea turtles, whales, sharks, and dolphins. Visitors can also enjoy various animal shows and roller coasters.

Legoland

Legoland is a park entirely themed around Lego, offering a fantastic experience, particularly for children. You can enjoy hours exploring the different attractions and indulge in endless Lego building.

Seal Tours

A delightful attraction featuring a ride in an amphibious vehicle that tours the city, descends into the ocean, and includes a view of the Navy.

Old Town San Diego

In Old Town San Diego, you'll experience a momentary glimpse of America from the past, with old wooden buildings reminiscent of Western films, vintage shops, and an atmosphere enriched by Mexican stores.

Balaboa Park

Balboa Park is stunning in its beauty, offering a remarkable array of architectural styles and natural landscapes that captivate visitors from around the world. This expansive urban park, encompasses a diverse collection of buildings that showcase various architectural influences, including Spanish Revival, Moorish, and even elements of Persian design.

Moreover, the park features a variety of museums and cultural institutions that further enrich the experience. The San Diego Museum of Art, the Museum of Man, and the Natural History Museum are just a few of the notable establishments that contribute to the park's vibrant cultural landscape. Each museum presents its unique collection of art and artifacts, allowing visitors to explore everything from ancient civilizations to contemporary works.

Corando Peninsula

The Coronado Peninsula is linked by an impressive bridge that reaches a significant height. It is a tranquil island featuring restaurants, cafes, and a stunning beach strip. Visiting at sunset is highly recommended.

La Jolla

La Jolla, situated north of San Diego, is a luxurious neighborhood nestled by the ocean and is very beautiful. The area around La Jolla Cove is perfect for a walk, and many adorable seals can be found lounging on the beach.
